Forgach Castle (Széczényi Castle), together with Ference Kubinyi Museum, stands where the famous fortress once stood. The museum is named after Ference Kubinyi, who discovered the 23 million-year-old pine tree that rests in the Ipolytarnóc museum. Although the exhibits downstairs depict county history, upstairs the famous hunter and writer, Kalman Kittenberger, as well as several other big game hunters, have left behind memorabilia that display lifetimes of adventure, including life-size models of various animals.

The colorful Kittenberger was a famous big game hunter with “Hemingway” bravado. He was sent to East Africa between 1902 and 1925 to accumulate specimens for the Hungarian National Museum, but soon acquired international acclaim as a big game hunter and writer. While collecting, he was once mauled by a lion. Half in jest, he amputated his own finger, which had been partially chewed off, bottled it in preservative, and sent it back home as a specimen.
